Although another installment to the franchise hasn't been officially announced as of March 2009, several sources have highly suggested another sequel is in development. In the July 2008 issue of Official Xbox Magazine, an article mentioned that Konami apparently confirmed another Silent Hill game would be released sometime in 2009 or 2010.[60] It was stated to coincide with the theatrical release of the sequel to the movie adaptation.[60] In January 2009, Music 4 Games interviewed series composer Akira Yamaoka and asked about the future state of the franchise.[61] M4G questioned if there would be another game developed in Japan or if the series was definitely in the hands of its current developer Double Helix. Mr. Yamaoka responded by acknowledging the series' cultural roots in Japan were a unique factor in its storytelling and felt it heavily contributed to the franchise's originality.[61] He finally concluded with, "So I think there may be another Silent Hill game developed in Japan someday. But I also think we will still have more Silent Hill games by the developers outside Japan.[61]"

Insomma, un prossimo SH potrebbe arrivare addirittura entro un anno (proprio come quelli di RE! XD). Potrebbe essere un capitolo non-canonico, un sequel del film. Yamaoka ha detto che futuri capitoli saranno sviluppati di nuovo dalla Double Helix (statunitense) e anche in Giappone.
